EXCURSION 1   Camara de Lobos to Porto Moniz

Full day

Camara de Lobos – Typical fishing village.

Cabo Girao – Second highest sea cliff in the world (580mts).

Ribeira Brava – Stop for coffee.

Paul da serra – Only plateau of the island at 1430mts high.

Porto Moniz – On the northwest cost a village well known for it’s volcanic swimming pools. After lunch, on the way to Sao Vicente discover one of the most beautiful Points of the north coast – a road built on the rocks by the sea where one can admire the astonishing Waterfalls.

Encumeada – Summit where both sides of the Island (weather permitting). On the way back to Funchal discover the beautiful valley of Serra d’Agua.

 

EXCURSION 2         Pico do Arieiro to Santana

Full day

Camacha – A well known village for it’s Wickerwork centre and famous for it’s Lavada walks.

Pico do Arieiro – Second highest summit on the Island (1810mts) commanding breath taking views over the surrounding mountains and peak sand valleys.

Ribeiro Frio – Natural park where you can have a look around the trout hatchery.

Faila – Stop for lunch.

Santana – Famous for it’s cottages which today are known world-wide.

Machico – Visit the bay where the love story of Robert Machin took place and where the discoverers of the island first disembarked during the XVth century.

 

 

EXCURSION 3   A visit to Three Different Gardens

EXCURSION 4  Machico, Caniçal, Ponta Sao Lourenço, Santa da Serra and Camacha

Full day 

Machico – Visit the bay where the love story of Robert Machin took place and where the discoverers of the island first disembarked during the XVth century.

Caniçal – Arid aera of unique views over the sea and the coast.

Ponta Sao Lourenço – Breathtaking views over the sea and the coast while visiting the only aera of Madeira similar to the other inhabited island of archipelago Porto Santo.

Portela – Stop for lunch at a popular restaurant which specializes in Espatada and where you can wath your lunch being cooked on the fire of Laurel twigs.

Santo da Serra – Stop for a relaxing walk in the beautiful gardens of a Madeirean “Quinta”.

Camacha – A well known village for it’s Wickework centre and famous for it’s Levada walks.

 

EXCURSION 5 Eira do Serrado to Monte

Half day

Discover our mountains and try the famous sledge

Pico dos Barcelos – Viewpoint from where you can admire a beautiful view over Funchal.

Eira do Serrado – Viewpoint (1094mts) overlooking the valley of Curral Das Freiras – a little village built in the crate of an extinct volcano. Breathtaking views over the village and mountains.

Monte – A village in the suburbs of Funchal known worldwide for it’s mild climate and lush vegetation. Visit the Parish Church. The famous sledge ride – toboggan – can be made to Livrament. ( This is optional and not included in price).

 

 

 

Easy Walks for All Ages.

 

N°1 PICO DO ARIEIRO / PICO DAS TORRES / PICO RUIVO / SANTANA 

This is a walk that will give you a complete perspective of the beauty of the island. The rock formations shoot into the shy like timeless statues. From Pico Arieiro you precede to pico das Torres ant then on to Pico Ruivo, the highest peak on the island.

The views are breathtaking! Descend to Achada do Teixeira

 The walk is done around the tops of the central Peaks of Madeira.

 

 

 

N°2 RIBEIRO FRIO / PORTELA 

One of the most beautiful levadas on the island, where one can see species of the indigenous forest. Before the start you will have a chance to visit a trout hatchery and throughout the journey you can see bird species.

N°3 SANTO DA SERRA / LAMACEIROS / PORTELA

N°4 RABACAL / RISCO / 25 FONTES / RABACAL

Going towards the west coast of the island a short stop will be made in Encumeada for morning coffee before starting the walk at Rabacal (protected natural area).

After this pleasant three-hour walk along two short levadas with a remarkable evergreen landscape and waterfalls, a visit will be paid to the village of PONTA DO SOL on the way back to Funchal.

N°5 BAIA DABRA / CASA DO SARDINHA / PRAINHA

You will visit the extreme coast side of the island. Bathed by clear water and exposed to the sun, this area is different from the rest of the island resembling a discreet and unique landscape. The crystallized rocks and fossils will help us spend a day full of excitement Accessible only on foot, also the possibility to go for a quick swim.

N°6 QUITA GRANDE / BOA MORTE / ESPIGAO

We will have the opportunity to observe a landscape reach in cultivations.

Graced flowers which spontaneous blossom from the houses and church’s garden, our path takes us trough pine groves, mimosas and eucalyptus trees wheeze contrast will endless ocean, will leave us with memorable views.
